Southern California is known for its perpetual summers with long and languid days filled with sun. When Michelle and Alex chose a Spring date for their nuptials, it seemed likely they’d enjoy a mild day without the major heat of summer. Mother Nature however had other plans it seems, and it threatened to rain, though that didn’t deter them, nor their resolve to proceed with an outdoor wedding exactly as planned and hope for the best.
It was a beautiful day, the clouds rolled in and out with the sun making its appearance for a few minutes at a time, and we had the most beautiful light as we strolled through the grounds of Bel Air Bay Club in Malibu, while capturing portraits. Michelle’s gown was bespoke and she looked radiant with her classic updo fashioned by Chiali Meng Artistry and her Spring inspired bouquet filled with yellow and white ranunculus, sweet peas, roses and lots of greenery incorporated throughout the design, decor and details by Chloe and Mint.
As Guests were seated facing the scenic ocean view and the Ceremony began, clouds began to gather and the sky opened up. It rained so fiercely, everyone huddled and as the Bride approached, and all you could do was watch as she walked down the aisle with a smile on her face, completely unfazed by the water pelting away, making her way to her groom. Their happiness was simply contagious!
After the Ceremony concluded, everyone dried off while they noshed on apps, enjoyed cocktails, and greeted the happy couple with a loud cheer, plenty of hugs and best wishes. If you believe in superstition, they say rain on your wedding day is good luck. Judging by their graceful demeanor, they’re already off to a good start towards a happy future, rain or shine.
